Williams was selected for the 3-point contest airing live on ESPN Thursday at 8 p.m. during the 31st annual State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships.

Coming over as a graduate transfer from Texas A&M before this past season, Williams was at the forefront for much of Texas’ (23-10) success this season. She sunk 67 3-pointers throughout the season, slotting her in at ninth all-time in Longhorn women’s basketball history.

Ranking even higher on the Texas leaderboard than that, her mark of 38.3 percent shooting from deep comes in at sixth in the single-season record books for a Longhorn.

On top of that, Williams’ 33.5 minutes per game puts her at ninth in school history as well.

Williams averaged 11.1 points per game to go with 4.6 rebounds per contest in 2018-19.

Twenty four of the nation’s elite men’s and women’s college basketball players were invited to compete in the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships — eight dunkers, along with eight men’s and eight women’s shooters — by Intersport, the producers of the event.

Other events slated for the event on ESPN are the Reese’s Puffs Battle of the Champions, the Great Clips Slam Dunk Championship and the Applebee’s Team Shootout.

A complete roster of participants will be released at a later date.

Over the last 30 years, several of the top players in college basketball have competed in the College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships including: Gary Payton, Steve Nash, Jason Terry, Kyle Korver, Bobby Hurley, Michael Finley, Allan Houston, Wesley Matthews, Yogi Ferrell, Cappie Pondexter, Katie Gearlds, Kristi Toliver, Tiffany Hayes and Ariel Atkins.
