Drawn in by the lifestyle of the surrounding city, thousands of college freshman arrive to the 40 Acres each year ready to revel in their new-found freedom. For Jordan Spieth, coming to Austin meant a chance to become a part of the Texas tradition.

The nation’s most accomplished junior golfer had the option to launch his collegiate career anywhere, but he chose to stay close to home.

“I’m a huge Longhorn sports fan and have been for a long time,” Spieth says. “I was born and raised in Texas, and this is where I plan to live my entire life.”

Now firmly entrenched on campus, he’s all over the place, observing sporting events, dressed in UT garb … simply enjoying the life of a college freshman. He’s just a kid being a kid — until he steps out onto the putting green.
