AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas soccer team's 2021 schedule, which was announced Monday, features 18 matches, including six against programs that appeared in the 2021 NCAA Tournament.

An exhibition against Abilene Christian opens the slate Aug. 13, but the first true challenges of the season arise on a road trip through Florida, where the Horns will face UCF Aug. 19 and Florida Aug. 22.

Highlighting the non-conference portion of the schedule is the Aug. 29 home opener, when defending Big East champion Georgetown travels to Austin. The Hoyas went 12-0-2 during the 2020-21 season, reaching the round of 16 before tying TCU, 1-1, and being eliminated on placekicks.

Perhaps the toughest road trip on the non-conference slate comes a week later Sept. 5, when Texas travels to Rice. The defending Conference USA champion, Rice went 14-3-1 and reached the round of 16 of this spring's NCAA Tournament.

A rigorous Big 12 schedule opens Sept. 23 at Kansas State, followed by a road duel at rival Oklahoma Sept. 26. TCU comes to Austin for the conference home opener, and the Horned Frogs pose a tremendous threat. The only opponent on UT's regular season schedule that reached the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals, TCU was 12-2-2 last season, having beaten the Longhorns handily, 3-0, Sept. 18 in Fort Worth. This year's meeting between the Big 12 rivals is set for Sept. 30.

The Big 12 Tournament is set to return after being left off the schedule in 2020, and will be played just 23 miles from UT's Mike A. Myers Stadium at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex in Round Rock. It is the first time the tournament will be held at the facility, and is set to be contested Oct. 31-Nov. 7.

The first round of the NCAA Tournament will run Nov. 12-14, with the NCAA Women’s College Cup set for Dec. 3-5 in San Jose, California.
