2022 Texas Baseball season wraps in Omaha

OMAHA, NE - Texas Baseball concludes the 2022 season in their 38th appearance to the College World Series falling to Texas A&M 10-2. Texas put up seven hits and two runs while using six pitchers.

Seems like just yesterday the season started with those cold days in February in Austin playing Rice and Alabama.

A few 2022 facts:

  • Douglas Hodo III and Trey Faltine played and started in all 69 games
  • Ivan Melendez scores the most runs (75), just two ahead of Hodo III (73)
  • Murphy Stehly most hits (102)
  • Most Doubles goes to Hodo III, then Stehly (23) and Silas Ardoin (20)
  • Melendez most HR's (32), RBI (94), Slugging % (.863), strike outs (104), On base % (.619)
  • Texas scores 541 runs the entire season
  • Pete Hansen threw 120 strike outs, Lucas Gordon (77), Tristan Stevens (72)

Ivan Melendez was awarded the 2022 Dick Howser Trophy recognizing him as college baseball's best player and is the likely winner of the Golden Spikes Award to be announced
