Valero Alamo Bowl halftime report

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — This feels like a game Texas should be leading more than 17-10.

In the first quarter, it seemed UT was on pace to win the game, 50-3, after brilliant play by running back Bijan Robinson and the Texas defense.

Robinson ran for 91 yards and had a 14-yard touchdown reception in the opening frame, continuing his solid play from the Kansas State game.

Which makes us wonder, why not give Robinson more than six carries with what he’s done the last six quarters? He didn’t get a carry on the two possessions on which Cameron Dicker and the possession on which Dicker missed a field goal after taking a 14-0 lead.

Again, why not, after what he did the first quarter?

Alfred Collins may only be around another two years. The true freshman defensive lineman is a monster and his one-handed interception showed the athleticism that NFL teams will notice.

The performance by UT's defense was adequate. It had two interceptions and held Colorado to fewer than 200 yards of offense while being on the field most of the second quarter.

Should be an interesting second half.
