Are The Texas Longhorns Back?

After a rocky start, have the Texas Longhorns become the dominant team we expected at the beginning of the season?  Are they a real contender for a Big 12 title?[s2If current_user_can(access_s2member_level2)] If you are asking me … You can bet your Lone Star State they are. Although, if you are asking “the oddsmakers”, things may be different.

One would think that after beating K-State and then absolutely destroying Oklahoma, Texas would have made believers out of all the skeptics. This is not so. According to SportsDay DFW, The Vegas oddsmakers, among others, remain skeptical. Texas must again display the offensive line edge it showed against Oklahoma.

Running backs Johnathan Gray and Malcolm Brown each rushed for more than 100 yards in the Oklahoma game. Case McCoy became more than just a “game manager” against the Sooners, taking shots deep, making good decisions and putting almost every ball on the money. When you throw in the fact that the Texas defense has corrected the early season issues and is (at times) dominant, it is easy to see why expectations are once again high for this Texas team.

TCU will be a more difficult assignment than the Sooners, who had been hit by two key defensive injuries. The Horned Frogs’ Big 12-leading rushing defense has kept them in every game this season. Simply put, tonight’s game is yet another test. Perhaps if the Longhorns pass THIS test, the skeptics will once again believe.

After the Oklahoma game, the Longhorns Football Team made a believer out of me.
