If you would have asked the average Texas Longhorns’ Football fan about Case McCoy at the beginning of the year, you would have been met with mixed reactions.[s2If current_user_can(access_s2member_level2)] Some people loved him, others thought that the quarterbacks currently behind him on the depth chart should be playing in front of him. Boy, what a difference a few weeks makes.
Case McCoy came on in place of the injured David Ash and never looked back. The senior from Graham, TX took the reins and orchestrated what can arguably be the called biggest regular season win in the past decade (the Oklahoma game). Because of his success, The Bleacher Report has added him to their list of Big 12 “Surprise Stars”.
On McCoy, they write:
Get this: Case McCoy is the Texas Longhorns’ leading passer with 764 yards and Texas is in first place in the Big 12.
Crazy, right?
Well, after years of struggle, McCoy finally found his groove in the Red River Shootout on Oct. 12. In that game, he had a 159.8 rating with two touchdowns in the Longhorns’ 36-20 rout of the Oklahoma Sooners.
The Longhorns face TCU this weekend and McCoy is projected to be the starter yet again as David Ash deals with an injury.
Case McCoy carries himself with the swagger of a national championship-winning quarterback.
“Confidence,” coach Mack Brown said, “is not an issue.”
After his last few performances, we can see why. He is on a roll and making this Texas Longhorns’ fun to watch.
