Texas and Kansas played a memorable game Saturday, one that had fans of each team holding their breath and statisticians shaking out cramps caused by the statistical and scoring overload.

But what about everyone else in the Big 12?

No. 18 Baylor 45, Oklahoma State 27
Quarterback Charlie Brewer [s2If current_user_can(access_s2member_level2)]completed 13 of 17 passes for 312 yards and a touchdown, and rushed for another touchdown as the Bears rallied from a 13-10 halftime deficit to knock off Oklahoma State in Stillwater.

The victory extended the Bears’ perfect start to the season, improving their record to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in games against Big 12 teams. The victory was Baylor’s ninth in a row, the third-longest in program history. Oklahoma State, which turned the ball over three times, fell to 4-3 overall, and 1-3 in Big 12 games.

JaMycal Hasty rushed 15 times for 139 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while wide receiver Josh Fleeks had three receptions for 126 yards and a score to help the Bears put up 536 yards in the victory.

OSU quarterback Spencer Sanders completed 18 of 32 passes for just 157 yards, one touchdown and one interception. The bulk of the Cowboys’ offense came from running back Chuba Hubbard, who rushed 32 times for 171 yards and two touchdowns.

The Bears are off next week before hosting West Virginia on Halloween. Oklahoma State will host Iowa State.

No. 5 Oklahoma 52, West Virginia 14
Quarterback Jalen Hurts again was the top rushing threat for the Sooners, running for 75 yards and a pair of scores, but it was through the air that he had the precision of a surgeon, completing 16 of 17 passes for 316 yards and three touchdowns to help lift OU to a laugher at home over the Mountaineers. His performance made him just the third quarterback in program history to complete at least 90 percent of his passes, throw for at least three touchdowns and top the 300-yard plateau in passing yardage in a single game.

Oklahoma continued the perfect start to its season, improving to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in Big 12 games, while WVU slipped to 3-4 overall and 1-3 in conference games.

The Sooners piled up 562 yards of total offense and have scored 34 or more points in each of the last 17 games, the second-longest Football Bowl Subdivision streak since 1980. While enjoying its massive lead, OU took its foot off the gas in the fourth quarter and did not score a touchdown in the game’s final period, only the second quarter this season in which the Sooners did not reach the end zone at least once.

Quarterback Austin Kendall, who was a three-year backup at Oklahoma before transferring, completed 15 of 31 passes for 182 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

West Virginia has a bye this week, while Oklahoma plays at Kansas State.

Kansas State 24, TCU 17
Quarterback Skylar Thompson ran for a touchdown from 3 yards out with 2:45 remaining to lift Kansas State to a home win over TCU, despite the fact that the Horned Frogs enjoyed a 22-14 advantage in first downs and outgained the Wildcats, 366-266.

K-State improved its season record to 4-2, while TCU slipped to 3-3. Each team has one victory in three games against Big 12 teams.

Both teams were limited in the passing game. TCU’s Max Duggan completed 16 of 29 passes for just 132 yards. Thompson was slightly more effective for KSU, connecting on 11 of 23 passes for 172 yards, and more importantly, for a pair of touchdowns.

TCU running backs Sewo Olonilua and Darius Anderson have been the team’s top ground gainers this year, but it was Duggan who led the way Saturday, with 13 carries for 115 yards and a touchdown. Olonilua (12 carries) and Anderson (13) each had 56 yards on the ground; Olonilua scored once. Thompson also was his team’s leading rusher, with 10 carries for 68 yards and a touchdown.

Kansas State hosts Oklahoma Saturday, while TCU welcomes a certain team from Austin to Fort Worth.

Iowa State 34, Texas Tech 24
Quarterback Brock Purdy completed 23 of 32 passes for 378 yards and a touchdown, and freshman running back Breece Hall rushed 19 times for 183 yards (9.6 yards per carry) and two more scores to lead the Cyclones past the Red Raiders in Lubbock.

Iowa State won its third straight game and improved to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in Big 12 games, while Texas Tech lots its fourth straight game to ISU and dropped to 3-4 overall and 1-3 in conference games.

Iowa State jumped out to a 20-0 lead and took a 20-7 lead into the locker room at halftime, thanks in large part to the fact that Purdy already had thrown for 277 yards and all three of his scores — two landed in the hands of tight end Charlie Kolar — before the intermission.

Tech quarterback Jett Duffey completed 40 of 52 passes for 239 yards and a touchdown.

ISU won despite kicker Brayden Narveson missing both of his field goal attempts.

The Cyclones host Oklahoma State Saturday, while the Red Raiders visit Kansas.
