IRVING, Texas -- Junior middle blocker Khat Bell has been named the Big 12 Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Nov. 11-16, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Bell led the Big 12 last week with 2.67 blocks per set as Texas improved to 12-0 in league play with a sweep over the Red Raiders on Saturday. Bell matched her season high with eight blocks and currently leads the conference in blocks, averaging 1.45 in Big 12 matches.

The honor is Bell’s sixth all-time Big 12 weekly award and second defensive accolade. Bell was a three-time Big 12 Volleyball Rookie of the Week during the 2011 season and earned an honor in the offensive category that season as well.
