Texas volleyball dominates Big 12 preseason honors

AUSTIN, Texas — For the sixth time in as many years, Big 12 volleyball coaches have picked the University of Texas as the preseason favorite to win the conference championship.
The Longhorns made coaches appear prophetic in each of the last five years, winning the conference crown each time.
The coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams. Texas topped the poll with 64 points. Kansas (57 points) was picked to finish second, Iowa State (47) third, TCU (41) fourth and Oklahoma (38) rounding out the top five. The rest of the conference teams included Kansas State (32) in sixth place, Baylor (21) in seventh, Texas Tech (16) eighth and West Virginia (8) ninth.
UT, which reached the national title match last season, has won five straight and eight of the last nine Big 12 titles.
The Longhorns also piled up preseason individual honors: seniors Chloe Collins, Chiaka Ogbogu and Paulina Prieto Cerame, and junior Ebony Nwanebu, all were named to the league's preseason team, while Orie Agbaji became the ninth UT played to be named Preseason Freshman of the Year
