Coach Beard expresses appreciation after historic Gregory Gym basketball game

AUSTIN, Texas — Texas head coach Chris Beard said they were going to throw a party at the Tower if the students packed the Erwin Center and Texas would play a game at Gregory Gym. Beard kept his word and did what he said he was going to do and the entire day was beyond epic. After the game, Beard shared his appreciation. (listen below)
This was a gift to the students and to pull off this game at Gregory Gym it took hundreds and hundreds of people to make it possible.
Highlights of the game are Texas now #7 ranked, beat Sam Houston 73-57, Marcus Carr scored 19 points, Courtney Ramey hit 14 points, and Gregory Gym packed in 2,834. Everyone had a blast.


The atmosphere was electric, music made you want to get off your seat and jump to the beat, and the crowd noise probably set off the earthquake early warning systems. Students were wearing commemorative Gregory Gym ‘21 t-shirts, and coach Beard was also wearing a commemorative pair of kicks made only for him. Everyone was asking where they could get a pair.
Students and fans immediately checked the Texas Team Shop. It was confirmed these were a commemorative pair just for coach.
