ESPN Always College Football has Steve Sarkisian on first episode

Sarkisian's first interview of July 2022

Talk about making a splash! The first guest on the first episode of ESPN’s new podcast Always College Football with Greg McElroy is Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian.

A morning wake-up call at 5:35 a.m. July 5 on a Twitter post, @AlwaysCFB put out a teaser announcing their first guest and episode. Greg McElroy and Sarkisian have a good laugh.

In the teaser for the podcast, McElroy comments to Sarkisian that he had a Texas helmet displayed behind him and with the helmet he received a note that read: “If Colt Doesn’t Get Hurt … We Win. Hook’Em” This was in reference to the 2009 season when McElroy led Alabama to an undefeated season 14-0 and the SEC Championship.

We immediately went to listen to the podcast as will likely every fan on the planet who is interested in what Sarkisian is going to talk about, especially after landing Arch Manning, and having Quinn Ewers, Hudson Card, Maalik Murphy, Charles Wright, Ben Ballard, and Cole Lourd in his QB room.

Interesting connections: Greg McElroy, a 2010 inductee into the College Football Hall of Fame, played high school football under head coach Todd Dodge, a former Longhorns quarterback (2005), at Carroll Senior HS in Southlake Texas, the same high school Quinn Ewers played. McElroy played QB at Alabama, before Sarkisian coached there, then was drafted by the New York Jets.

The podcast Always College Football is a collaboration of Omaha Productions, ESPN and Greg McElroy. Omaha Productions was founded by Peyton Manning.

Listen to the podcast: Always College Football with Greg McElroy and Steve Sarkisian…it is a good one likely to be listened t by every college football fan, analyst, coach, and player. Basically, the world. #HookEm

I like exploring the why's and have three objectives. First is to give value to those who would spend time with our content. Second is to be respectful of others and for the opportunity to tell a positive story about all of the Texas Longhorns teams, players, and coaches regardless of their record. Lastly, to put wind in the sails of others using the Horns Illustrated platform. Life is GOOD!
