The men’s relay squads also had great showings at the meet. UTA’s 4×800 relay team — consisting of Anthony Hilliman, Philip Critelli, Jacob Critelli and Ryan Tilotta — recorded the best finish for the Mavericks (5th, 7:40.51).
The men’s 4×1500 relay team placed sixth with a time of 16:14.25 and the distance medley relay team took eight (10:05.41).
The top finish came courtesy of Romain Martin, who was the decathlon runner-up for the second straight season. Martin finished with 7,904 points, just 73 points behind his school-record mark set last year in Austin and 107 points from the top spot. His day-two highlight was a victory in the 110-meter hurdles (14.37), during which he set a personal record. In addition, the senior finished second in the javelin (202-09), sixth in the pole vault (16-00.75), seventh in the 1500m (4:42.31) and seventh in the discus (133-10).
