Former Longhorn Jordan Spieth in Final Group at Farmers Insurance Open
Former Longhorn Jordan Spieth sits one stroke behind leader Gary Woodland at the Farmers Insurance Open in San Diego.
Spieth, who had a one stroke lead going into the third round on Saturday, shot a 3-over 75 on a day many golfers struggled to find fairways and greens. The former Longhorn played with last years' player of the year, Tiger Woods, Friday and shot a tournament-best 63.
"The kid's got talent," Woods said. "He hits it a long way, he's a phenomenal putter. He made a boatload of putts today from the 10-to-20 foot range and on PGA greens, that's not easy to do."
Many will remember Spieth for being awarded last year’s PGA Tour Rookie of the Year award after winning the John Deere Classic.
Spieth, who was named Big 12 player of the year in the one season he played with the Longhorns, tees off at 12:25 p.m. CST. The tournament will be broadcast on your local CBS affiliate and The Golf Channel.
