THE BIG 12 Conference bestowed its highest academic honor, the Dr. Gerald Lage Award, upon senior rowers Chelsea Burns and Rachel Donnelly. Burns and Donnelly are Texas’ lone recipients of the award for the 2012-13 academic year.

residence at their institu- tions for at least one academic year. Eligible nominees must have at least100 hours of earned credit and at least a 3.8 cumulative GPA at the time of their nominations.
Burns, an audiology major, and Donnelly, a sociology major, earned first-team selections to the 2013 Academic All-Big 12 Rowing Team. They were among 12 student-athletes recog- nized with perfect 4.0 grade-point averages.
The two athletes represented Texas on its first varsity eight boat when the Longhorns placed second at the Big 12 Championship.
