The Longhorns wound up 9-4 overall this season and finished the regular season at No. 15 in the most recent poll. Texas was selected for the Sugar Bowl even though the Longhorns lost 39-27 to No. 4 Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship Game in a rematch of one of the best games of the season.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs come into the bowl game at 11-2 overall, having just missed out on a spot in the College Football Playoff, ranked No. 5 overall in Top 25. Georgia narrowly lost to top-seeded Alabama, 35-28, in the SEC Championship Game.

In a nice line of symmetry, the 2019 Allstate Sugar Bowl is the 55th all-time bowl appearance for both Texas and Georgia, which is tied for the second-most in college football history.

Stay tuned for in-depth coverage coming all this week and next week leading up to the big game on New Year's Day.
