Hinojosa named to Team USA Final Roster

Austin -- Texas Baseball sophomore shortstop C.J Hinojosa (Spring/Klein Collins HS) has been named to the final 24-man roster of the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team, USA Baseball announced Sunday.
Through seven games of a collegiate-league tour, Hinojosa has helped Team USA to a perfect record, including a game-decisive three-run double in a 5-2 win over High Point-Thomasville on Saturday.
Hinojosa becomes the 20th player in Texas history to earn a spot with Team USA and first since four players did so in 2011, including Jordan Danks on the Pan-American Games Team, and three (Hoby Milner, Corey Knebel and Erich Weiss) on the Collegiate National Team.
It also marks the third time Hinojosa has represented USA Baseball on various teams including participation with the 14U and 16U National Teams.
The Collegiate National Team has three games remaining in its tour of the Coastal Plains League. International competition is slated to begin July 5 with an exhibition contest against the Matsuyama Industrial League. The 39th edition of the USA-Japan series gets underwayJuly 6 in Matsuyama, Japan. Upon returning to the United States, the CNT will play a pair of exhibition games before opening up a five game series against Cuba on July 18 in Des Moines, Iowa.
Hinojosa started in every game this season for the Longhorns at shortstop while being named to the 2013 Big 12 All-Freshman Team. He finished second on the team with a .309 batting average with 10 doubles, two triples, two home runs, three stolen bases and 29 RBI. He had 11 errors on the season, but did not record an error in his final 11 games of the season and only one error in his final 18 games.
