Horns home series vs. No. 2 LSU sold out Fri + Sat
A true test for Texas comes extremely early this season.
Looking to see where they stand, the No. 22 Longhorns host the No. 2 LSU Tigers this weekend at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
The fanfare around the series is at a fever pitch, with both Friday and Saturday’ games already sold out. There are a few tickets remaining for Sunday afternoon’s showdown.
Friday will feature a showdown between the No. 1 starters as sophomore Bryce Elder (1-0, 0.64) takes the hill for Texas, facing junior righty Zac Hess (1-0, 5.19) on the mound for LSU.
The Tigers come in at a perfect 8-0 so far while Texas is 7-3 thus far.
For LSU, SS Josh Smith scorching hot, hitting .517 this year with four doubles, six RBIs and 14 runs scored. Senior outfielder Antoine Duplantis leads the SEC with 23 RBIs, and junior outfielder Zach Watson is hitting .333 with 11 runs scored.
On the Horns side of things, junior third baseman Ryan Reynolds has emerged as a force, leading Texas with a .389 average and five doubles, to go with six RBIs and eight runs scored.
Veteran Austin Todd has a team-high .371 average on the year and also leads the Longhorns with 12 RBIs.
