The Texas Baseball team hosted Texas Pan American and West Virginia in Austin this week. The Longhorns won two games and lost two games.
Texas opened the week with a 6-1 victory over Texas Pan American on Tuesday. Josh Urban (1-0) picked up his first career win after pitching 4.2 innings and giving up one run on four hits and struck out three. Ty Marlow went 2 for 3 from the plate and picked up two RBI to lead the Longhorn's offense.
Parker French put in another quality start on Friday against West Virginia, but Texas was unable to give him the necessary run support. The Longhorns lost 1-0 to the Mountaineers in the eighth inning after WVU's Bobby Boyd hit a sacrifice fly to score Billy Fleming. French pitched 7.2 innings and allowed one run on five hits and a walk and struck out a career-high seven batters.
The Longhorns responded on Saturday against the Mountaineers with a dominant 12-0 victory. Ty Marlow and Jacob Felts recorded four RBI each. Felts hit a three-run homerun in the fourth inning out to left field—the second of his career. Dillon Peters (4-2) threw eight shutout innings and struck out six batters. The Longhorns recorded a season-high 14 hits, while Peters held West Virginia to four hits. Peters has given up one run in his last three starts—a 0.36 ERA.
