Horns Illustrated Week in Review (April 8th-15th)

The Texas baseball team dropped two games against Kansas on the road in a three-game series over the weekend.

In the series opener on Friday, the Jayhawks rallied from a 4-0 deficit and defeated the Longhorns in the bottom of the 12th inning. The Jayhawks’ Tucker Tharp hit a walk-off single, scoring Dakota Smith from second to give the Jayhawks the 7-6 victory.

The Longhorns (19-15, 4-8 Big 12) responded on Saturday with a 2-1 victory behind the pitching of sophomore Dillon Peters (3-2). Peters pitched a complete game, allowing one run on six hits and struck out three. Despite Jacob Felts .231 batting average this season, Felts picked up an RBI and went 2 for 3 from the plate.

On Sunday in the final game of the series, the Jayhawks pulled out a 4-3 victory behind a two RBI-game from Kevin Kuntz. Kuntz hit an RBI-groundout in the sixth inning to drive in the Jayhawks’ winning run.
