Football

Four former University of Texas Longhorn football players played in the Pro Bowl on Sunday evening in Honolulu, Hawaii. Running back Jamaal Charles of the Kansas City Chiefs, place kicker Justin Tucker of the Baltimore Ravens, defensive lineman Brian Orakpo of the Washington Redskins, and linebacker Derrick Johnson of the Kansas City Chiefs. Former Texas safety Earl Thomas was selected for the Pro Bowl, but did not play as he is preparing for the Super Bowl against the Denver Broncos.

Charles finished with 43 yards on 5 carries and one catch for four yards. Tucker finished with three successful extra point tries. Johnson finished with 10 total tackles (1 for loss) and forced a fumble. Orakpo finished with two total tackles.

 

Men's Basketball

The University of Texas Men's basketball team defeated No. 24 Baylor 74-60 on Saturday in Waco and defeated No. 22 Kansas State 67-64 on Jan. 21. This marks the first time in the basketball program's history that the team has won three consecutive games against Top 25 teams.

With the win over Baylor the Longhorns pushed their overall record to 16-4 and 5-2 in Big 12 Conference play. The Longhorns will host the No. 8 Kansas Jayhawks on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 3 P.M. Central.

Freshman guard Isaiah Taylor scored a career-high 27 points in the victory and added three steals. Jonathan Holmes finished with 14 points and eight rebounds, while Cameron Ridley added eight points and 14 rebounds.

2023 Texas Longhorns Football Season Tickets

Against Kansas State, Jonathan Holmes hit a game-winning three pointer from the corner to give the Longhorns the win at home. Holmes finished with eight points and 10 rebounds in the game. Javan Felix led the Longhorns in scoring with 23 points, while Cameron Ridley added 18 points.

 

Women's Basketball

The University of Texas Women's basketball team defeated No. 18 West Virginia 66-63 at the Frank Erwin Center on Saturday. The win pushed the Longhorns' overall record to 13-6 this season and 4-3 in conference play.

The Longhorns are 10-1 at home this season after the victory over the Mountaineers. Nneka Enemkpali finished with a career-high 21 rebounds in the game and scored 15 points to record her fifth double-double of the season. Brady Sanders added 14 points, while Nekia Jones scored 11 points.

The Longhorns return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Lawrence to play the Kansas Jayhawks at 7 P.M. Central. The Longhorns then travel to Waco to play Baylor on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 6:30 P.M. Central.

 

Baseball

The Texas Baseball team held its first team practice on Friday at Disch-Falk Field. The Longhorns return 19 lettermen and are ranked No. 20 nationally in the preseason polls.

The Longhorns return three of their weekend starting pitchers this season. Junior Dillon Peters, junior Parker French, and senior Nathan Thornhill. The Longhorns season opens in California on Feb. 14-16.
