30 days until the 2013-2014 Texas Football Season kicks off against New Mexico State!
Two Texas Longhorn football players announced their intentions to transfer from the program this week. Former wide receiver Cayleb Jones and former quarterback Conner Brewer both decided they needed a fresh start.
Cayleb caught two passes as a true freshman in 2012.
Conner redshirted his freshman season at Texas and will transfer to the University of Arizona.
He will be eligible to play for the Wildcats in 2014 and have three years of eligibility.
Big 12 Media Days took place this week. Coach Mack Brown, David Ash, Trey Hopkins, Jackson Jeffcoat, and Adrian Phillips represented the University of Texas in Dallas.
Coach Brown said, “[Texas] took a lot of momentum from our win against Oregon State in the Alamo Bowl and had an outstanding spring, and it sounds like the same thing has happened this summer.”
Texas returned 19 of their 22 starters and will look to be one of the favorites to win the Big 12 Conference this season. Brown also thought that the leadership on the team was better than in the past because the players are older now and bring more experience.
David Ash will be a veteran quarterback in the conference entering his junior season and will look to go to a more up-tempo attack with co-offensive coordinators Major Applewhite and Darrell Wyatt taking over the offense. “David is ready to go up tempo now with the offense. He's in command. He's very confident. He knows what we want,” coach Brown said.

And was named an All-America five times and Big Ten Conference Athlete of the Year and Athlete of the Championships during both the 2013 indoor and outdoor seasons. In 2012 she earned Freshman of the Year honors in both indoors and outdoors seasons.
