Track and Field
The Texas Men's Track and Field coach Bubba Thornton announced on Monday that he will retire after August 31, 2013. Coach Thornton has coached 18 seasons at Texas and led the Longhorns to 12 conference championships and 19 NCAA Top 10 finishes.
This season, coach Thornton led the Men's team to the Big 12 Indoor and Outdoor Titles and a sixth place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Texas Athletic Director DeLoss Dodds plans to hire one head coach to take over the Men's and Women's Track and Field programs.
Softball
On Friday, Texas All-Americans Taylor Hoagland and Taylor Thom were named to the USA Softball Women's National Team. Hoagland makes her second appearance on the National team after earning a place on the 2011 team. Thom makes her first appearance for the USA National team.
