Football
The University of Texas Longhorn football team defeated the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Thanksgiving night 41-16. The Longhorns had two 100-yard rushers against Texas Tech. Malcolm Brown rushed for 128 yards, while Joe Bergeron rushed for 102 yards.
The Longhorn defense recorded nine sacks in the dominating victory. Defensive end Jackson Jeffcoat led the defense with a career-high three individual sacks.
The win pushes Texas' record to 7-1 in the Big 12 and 8-3 overall. The Longhorns will travel to Waco Dec. 7 to play the Baylor Bears. By beating Baylor, the Longhorns can claim at least a share of the Big 12 Conference Title, and can win the title outright if Oklahoma State loses to Oklahoma.
The league announced on Monday, Jeffcoat and Anthony Fera were named Big 12 Conference Players of the Week following the Longhorns win over Texas Tech.
Volleyball
The No. 1 Texas Longhorn Volleyball team swept Baylor 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-14) to finish a perfect 16-0 in Big 12 Conference play this season. It marks the first time in program history that the Longhorns have finished conference play unbeaten.
The win also extended the Longhorns win streak to 19 consecutive matches. Haley Eckerman led the Longhorns with 20 kills, while Hannah Allison finished with 34 assists. Sarah Palmer added 11 digs.
The Longhorns earned the No. 1 overall seed in the upcoming 2013 NCAA Championships. The Longhorns will play Texas State Thursday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m at Gregory Gym. If the Longhorns win on Thursday, they will advance to play the winner of Texas A&M vs. UTSA on Friday.
Men's Basketball
The Texas Longhorn Men's Basketball team will host Vanderbilt on Monday night (Dec. 2) at the Frank Erwin Center at 8 p.m. Texas defeated UT Arlington on Friday, Nov. 29 with a score of 72-69. Demarcus Holland led the Longhorns with 23 points. Prince Ibeh and Cameron Ridley added 11 and 10 points respectively. Ibeh finished with five blocks, while Ridley finished with six blocks.
The game against Vanderbilt will be broadcast on ESPN2.
Women's Basketball
The Texas Longhorn Women's Basketball team defeated Memphis 65-36 on Saturday evening in the Paradise Jam Tournament. The tournament was played in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. The Longhorns previously lost to Syracuse 77-65 on Thursday, and defeated Texas A&M 69-58 on Friday.
Texas will host Arkansas-Little Rock in Austin on Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on the Longhorn Network.
