Just after coach Sarkisian address the media for the 2023 National Signing Day to announce 24 newcomers to the Longhorns, Sarkisian address the players in a team huddle on the practice field.

Several weeks ago during a Monday press conference we asked coach Sarkisian if Jordan Whittington had enough film and full enough resume the would get a look from the NFL and give Whittington serious consideration.

The Players Shop

During the Oklahoma game Whittington had his best game receiving and caught 10 passes for 115 yards, his longest was a 28 yarder, plus had two rushes for 16 yards. This is Whittington’s final year at Texas and has a career 119 receptions for 1,516 yards after 36 games. Not out of this world stats if you are focused on become a NFL wide receiver.

The NFL is looking for wide-receivers with hands first and foremost. Jordan has hands, good ones, but he does not have the stats (aka film) of him doing a lot of receiving. What they do have is an overwhelming amount of footage of a blocker who is responsible for more key blocks that anyone we know.

Our on-field photographer, Don Bender, has capture so many plays where Whittington is putting on a key block so the runners like Johnathan Brooks, Bijan Robinson, Roschon Johnson, or Ja’Tavion Sander can see open field and make extra yards and many times scoring.

When Sarkisian address the team he said, “Your resume is your tape. What you put on film every Saturday is your resume. We should all aspire to be like him. Newly invited to the Senior Bowl JWhitt.”

Looking surprised his teammate cheering, coach Sarkisian give him a hug, and a member of the staff handed Whittington his official invitiation box. It was an outstanding moment for Whittington, coach Sarkisian, the entire team, and fans.

Whittington responds and said, “Dream come true, right now.”

The next day, it was announced that Jordan Whittington had officially accepted the invitation and will join his five teammates who also were invited and accepted. (Jahdae Barron, Byron Muphy II T’Vondre Sweat, Jaylan Ford, Christian Jones)
