Longhorn QB Connor Brewer Elects to Transfer

Longhorn redshirt freshman quarterback Connor Brewer has elected to transfer, he confirmed on Tuesday. The Scottsdale, Ariz. (Chaparral HS) native has been given an unconditional release from his scholarship by UT and will depart the program after one season.
“I want to thank everyone at The University of Texas – the coaching staff, the fans and especially my teammates for a great experience here in Austin over the last 18 months,” Brewer said. “In particular, I want to thank Coach Brown for giving me the opportunity to play football at The University of Texas. It was a dream come true, and I have loved every minute of being a Texas Longhorn.
“I do, however, feel that it is in my best interest as a football player to pursue other options to continue my college career. I have made friendships here that will last a lifetime, and I look forward to meeting these guys again on the playing field. It just has been an honor to be a Longhorn. Texas does things right. The program is first-class in every way. Even though this is a very difficult decision, it is what I need to do for myself.”
“We appreciate everything Connor has brought to our program,” head coach Mack Brown said. “He is a tremendous young man and is a great teammate and student. We hate to see him leave, but at the same time we understand his reasons. We wish him the best of luck in the future.”
