Longhorns Soccer Has Winning Weekend Against Oklahoma and Baylor

Thanks to dominant performances against Oklahoma and Baylor over the weekend Texas Longhorns Soccer qualified for a spot to compete in the 2014 Big 12 Women’s Soccer Championship.
On Fri. Oct. 24 in Norman, Oklahoma at the OU Soccer Complex the Longhorns came prepared to take care of business. Just 45 seconds into the game Texas freshman forward Morgan Murphy scored her first career goal and only goal of the match. Senior defender Whitney Jaynes assisted Murphy to score the goal in the 1-0 shutout of the Sooners.
Junior goalkeeper Abby Smith made two saves during the match and the 1-0 win gave her her 22nd career shutout.
On. Sun. Oct. 26, Texas traveled to Waco, Texas to play against Baylor. The Longhorns came from behind to win 2-1 over the Bears.
In the fifth minute Baylor junior forward Bri Campos scored the first goal of the match.
In the 74th minute, Junior midfielder Lindsey Meyer scored her third goal of the year against Baylor to tie the game 1-1. Meanwhile, senior defender, Brooke Gilbert and junior forward, Chantale Campbell had their second and third assists of the season this year.
In the final 30 seconds of the match, Texas sophomore midfielder, Julia Dyche scored the winning goal. With the 2-1 victory Texas improved it's record to 10-6-2 (4-3-0 Big 12).
Texas will have their final home game on Fri. Oct. 31 at Mike A. Myers Stadium against Oklahoma State University at 7 p.m. The match will be televised on The Longhorn Network.
