Men’s Basketball Adds Freshman Walk-On McClurg to Roster

AUSTIN, Texas -- The University of Texas men’s basketball team has added walk-on freshman forward Ryan McClurg (Katy, Texas) to its roster, head coach Rick Barnes announced Saturday. McClurg enrolled at UT in January after completing the fall semester at UTSA.

McClurg (6-5, 225) was a four-year letterwinner at Seven Lakes High School under head coach Dan Miller. As a senior, McClurg was voted UIL District 19-5A Most Valuable Player after leading the Spartans to their third consecutive 30-win season and third district championship in five years. McClurg was also selected for Region III-5A honors by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) as a senior.

Full name is Ryan Thomas McClurg … son of Tom and Susan McClurg … born Dec. 14, 1994 in Lafayette, La. … moved to Katy prior to his freshman year at Seven Lakes in 2009 … has one sister, Lauren McClurg (16), and one brother, Jackson McClurg (14).
