Men’s Golf Preview: Carpet Capital Collegiate

SEASON OPENER: Texas (No. 3 Golf World/Nike; No. 3 Golfweek) opens the 2013-14 season this week at the Carpet Capital Collegiate. The Longhorns return to defend their title after shooting a blistering 13-under 851, including a course-record 266 and a low front nine 130 in the second round.

WHERE: The Farm Golf Club (par 72, 7,012 yards) - Rocky Face, Ga.

WHEN: Friday, Sept. 6 through Sunday, Sept. 8; Texas is paired alongside Georgia and Georgia Tech beginning at 9:30 a.m. Central in nine-minute increments off the first tee. Second and third-round pairings will be determined following play on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

THE TOURNAMENT FIELD – 14 teams (Golf World/Nike Golf Preseason Poll [as of Aug. 28, 2013]): TEXAS (No. 3), Georgia Tech (No. 4), Georgia (No. 11), Auburn (No. 16), LSU (No. 17), North Florida (No. 24), Chattanooga, Clemson, Kennesaw State, Middle Tennessee State, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Wake Forest.
