AUSTIN, Texas — Surging toward the last weeks of the regular season, the Texas Volleyball team is keeping loose while avoiding any doldrums that could hit this time of the season.

An infusion of youth is hitting the point where keeping fresh is ever-important, while the veterans on the team, such as Micaya White, are guiding the Longhorns toward a hopeful Big 12 Championship and a No.4 seed — at least — in the NCAA Tournament.

Coach Jerritt Elliott noted the importance of intertwining his vets and the youngins' during this time of the season, when the typical high school season has already ended. Texas will be playing at least one more month, and hopefully more, as it pushes toward another National Championship.

Coming off its fifth-straight win, No. 5 Texas (15-4, 10-1) hosts Kansas State (13-9, 3-8) tonight and is back home again Saturday with Kansas coming to town.

Along with freshman outside hitter Logan Eggleston, fellow freshmen Sydney Peterson and Brionne Butler routinely keep Texas on top of its game.

As of today, the Longhorns are a whopping 5-0 in Big 12 Conference matches at home, winning 15 of 16 sets in dominant fashion. The next two games are the final two in a four-game homestand.
