COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Incoming University of Texas freshman Myles Turner posted nine points, five rebounds and two blocked shots to help Team USA to a 90-56 victory against Dominican Republic in the semifinal round of the 2014 FIBA Americas U18 Championship on Monday evening. Turner started the game and converted 2-of-2 field goals and 5-of-6 free throws in 17 minutes of action.

With his two blocked shots in Monday’s victory, Turner set a USA U18 competition record with 14 total blocks. The previous mark was 13 set by both Tim Young and Shareef Abdur-Rahim in the 1994 FIBA Americas Junior World Championship Qualifier.

With the win, the Americans improved to 4-0 in the tourney and advance to the Gold Medal contest against Canada on Tuesday, June 24 at 6:30 p.m. Central. Team USA will be looking to capture its seventh gold medal all-time in the tourney, having previously won the championship in 1990, 1994, 1998, 2006, 2010 and 2012.
