This game leaves no guessing who’s the best. Texas Baseball is No. 1 for a reason.
Coach Schlossnagle gave Kimble Schuessler the game lineup. It is given to the player of the game. Schuessler hit two home runs and had eight RBIs.
The game started fast. Normally the action doesn’t begin until the fourth, fifth, or sixth innings, but not this game. Auburn scored in the first inning, and Texas answered with five runs in the bottom of the first. The dismantling starts…
Schuessler homered in the first, doubled in the second, and homered in the bottom of the seventh to end the game early by SEC run rule.
Here is Schuessler’s home run swing to win and end the game.
Coming into the game Schuessler had an 807 OPS. After the game, Schuessler has a 911 OPS.
Texas pitching remains lethal. Ruger Riojas pitched three innings and faced 11 batters. Of his 38 pitches, 63% were strikes (24). Riojas struck out two in the three innings pitched.
Jason Flores struck out three, faced 14 batters and threw 48 pitches with 62.5% being strikes (30).
Auburn got only 25 at bats.
Texas is now 33-5 overall and 16-2 in SEC Conference play with 12 more SEC Conference games left in the season.
Texas travels 30 minutes south to San Marcos to play Texas State for a non-conference game on Tuesday, then the big weekend against SEC Texas A&M.
These games will be thunderous for sure for multiple reasons.
