AUSTIN, Texas — The showdown is sold out as No. 12 West Virginia visits No. 15 Texas at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium Saturday in Austin.

Now is the time for Texas to turn up the positivity and confidence its displayed all season, knowing that this game could be make-or-break for the Longhorns’ postseason fate.

“We just have to stay focused on the task at hand, there’s nothing that we can do to control what happened in the past so there’s no reason to be upset about it,” sophomore quarterback Sam Ehlinger said.

A packed house awaits the Mountaineers, with the Longhorns ready to prove they still belong in hunt for a major bowl game, needing a strong victory over their fellow ranked team from the Big 12. A win here will go a long way toward securing their spot in the Big 12 Title game at the end of the regular season.

Heading into Saturday both Texas and WVU sit in a tie for first place in the Big 12 at 4-1 in the conference. The huge conference clash is UT’s second sellout of the season, as they also sold out the Sept. 15 game against USC with a school-record crowd of 103,507 fans.

It will be essential that Texas can get to potential Heisman Trophy candidate Will Grier, who was knocked out of last year’s game by the Longhorns.

“We watched a lot of film on him. Honestly he’s a great quarterback,” Texas senior defensive lineman Chris Nelson said. “He’s got a good arm, he sits in the pocket, he’s confident. I feel like we’re going to get after him.”

The Longhorns own a perfect 4-0 record inside of Darrell K Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium this season.

Both road losses have featured adversity on and off the field, coming away from the friendly confines of DKR. In order to keep their home record spotless and continue the chase for a Big 12 Championship, the Longhorns are looking forward, fueled by the past.

“We just have to learn the same way we did after Maryland,” junior wide receiver Collin Johnson said. “Just move on and just keep working hard and handle and control what we can control.”

There’s only one home game left after this one on Nov. 17 against Iowa State. Tickets to the home game can be purchased by clicking here or calling the Texas Athletics ticket office at 512-471-3333.
