Austin, Texas — Midfielder Katie Glenn headed in her fourth goal of the year in the 74th minute Friday to help the No. 14 soccer team escape Mike A. Myers Stadium with a 2-1 win over Texas-Rio Grande Valley.

The win improves the Longhorns' record to 7-0-1 as they extended their win streak to six games.

The teams battled through 45 scoreless minutes, making Friday's game the first this year in which the Longhorns failed to score before the intermission.

The Longhorns nearly broke the scoreless tie in the 51st minute. UT forward Haley Berg found forward Cyera Hintzen on a run down the left side of the box. Hintzen was tackled in the box, earning a penalty kick, but Glenn's shot was saved by UTRGV goalkeeper Kinga Smezik.

Haley Berg broke the scoreless drought in the 55th minute when she scored her third goal of the season off assists by Hintzen and Glenn. But UTRGV got the equalizer when Shentatious Knox scored her first goal of the year off an assist by Diandra Aliaga in the 72nd minute.

But less than two minutes later, Glenn made up for her failed PK when she converted assists by Alexa Adams and Cameron Brooks for the game-winning goal.

The victory was the sixth straight for the Longhorns, and the 15th consecutive home victory against non-conference opponents.

The Longhorns are back in action at 5 p.m. Sunday when they host Northern Colorado in a game that can be seen on the Longhorn Network.

Next up for Texas is Northern Colorado on Sunday at 5 pm.
