NORMAN, Oklahoma — The Texas volleyball team won a five-set match at Oklahoma (25-23, 20-25, 25-18, 23-25, 15-9) Saturday, improving its season record to 11-4 overall and 6-1 against the rest of the Big 12.

The loss dropped Oklahoma to 11-8 overall, and 3-4 in conference matches. Texas beat Oklahoma for the 50th time, a remarkable stat considering the match was just the 54th between the schools.

The Texas victory came three days after the Longhorns absorbed a loss at Kansas that might end up looking like a wake-up call for the No. 4 team in the country. Junior Micaya White led the Texas offense with 17 kills, while senior Morgan Johnson tied her career high with 12 and freshman Logan Eggleston added 11, to go along with a career-high six blocks.

Freshman Sydney Peterson led the UT defense with 18 digs. Junior Autumn Rounsaville added nine, and White chipped in with eight. Freshman Brionne Butler had a team-high and career-best 10 blocks.

As usual, sophomore setter Ashley Shook quarterbacked the offense, handing out 42 assists. Her 12 digs gave Shook the second double-double of her career.

The Longhorns will be back in action next Saturday, when they host Texas at 1 p.m. in a match that can be seen live on the Longhorn Network.
