Ogbogu Earns Second Straight Big 12 Conference Volleyball Rookie of the Week Honor

IRVING, Texas -- Freshman outside hitter Chiaka Ogbogu has been tabbed the Big 12 Conference Volleyball Rookie of the Week (Oct. 2-5) for the second consecutive week, the league office announcedMonday afternoon.

Ogbogu recorded double-digit kills in both of UT’s matches last week, hitting .471 at Baylor on Wednesdayand .556 at LSU on Saturday. Her two-match mark was .514, which led the league for the week. Over three Big 12 matches for Texas this season, her hitting percentage is .375, which ranks fifth in the league. She also tallied eight blocks, including six against the Lady Bears, and averaged 3.57 points over the two matches.

Texas resumes Big 12 Conference action Wednesday evening when it returns home to Gregory Gym to host Texas Tech at 6 p.m. Central.
