AUSTIN — Seemingly effortless Shealyn O’Leary gave an outstanding performance Wednesday in throwing her first-career no-hitter in a 9-1 Texas win.

O’Leary only needed to go five innings for the no-no as the Longhorns lit up Longwood at Red & Charline McCombs Field for a run-rule victory. No 9 Texas swept both games of the doubleheader to improve to 18-3 on the season.
O’Leary’s amazing effort on the mound is the first no-hitter for Texas softball since the 2013 season when Blaire Luna threw a no-hitter against Florida State.
The freshman phenom is now 6-0 in her career and has now gone 35 2/3 innings without allowing a run, only giving up one earned run this entire season.

In the first game of the doubleheader, Brook Bolinger struck out a career-high tying 11 and gave up a mere three hits in an 8-0 win that also only lasted five innings.

On the day, sophomore second baseman Janae Jefferson was a combined 5-for-6 to lead the offense as Texas took it to the Lancers.
In the no-hit win, senior designated player Ki’Audra Hayter went 2-for-2 with a run, a triple and RBI while junior center fielder Shannon Rhodes smashed a two-run HR. Sophomore catcher Lauren Burke added two RBIs, Reagan Hathaway was 2-for-3 with a run scored, and Kaitlyn Washington had a run scored and RBI.
Hayter ripped a RBI triple down the first base line to score the game-winner as McKenzie Parker, who reached via single, darted around the bases and came home to end the game.
In the opener, Mary Iakopo had a double and three RBIs and Bekah Alcozer had two hits including a homer and two RBIs. Kailtyn Slack was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and Rhodes was 1-for-3 with a RBI.
Miranda Elish (2-for-2, run, double) and Hathaway (2-for-3, run) also contributed to the offensive onslaught for the Longhorns.
Texas hosts the Longhorn Classic at McCombs Field this weekend. The Horns take on Texas Southern at 4:30 Friday before playing No. 22 Minnesota at 7.
On Saturday, Texas plays Texas Southern again at noon and Minnesota a second time at 2:30 p.m., with the Longhorns final game of the weekend coming against Minnesota one more time at noon on Sunday. Minnesota and Texas Southern square off at 4:30 p.m. Friday and again on 5 p.m. Saturday.
