Padegimaite, Begley win doubles title at Longhorn Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas – Texas senior Elizabeth Begley and junior Lina Padegimaite defeated Rice’s Natalie Beazant and Steph Nguyen and won the 14-team doubles draw Sunday at the Longhorn Invitational.

Padegimaite and Begley posted their third win of the tournament and defeated Rice’s Beazant and Nguyen by an 8-5 count.  Padegimaite and Begley held a 6-5 lead and broke Beazant and Nguyen for a 7-5 cushion.  UT held serve in the ensuing game to claim the victory.

Begley added a 6-2, 6-4 win over Wichita State’s Rebecca Pedrazzi in the flight one singles consolation final.  Junior Annat Rabinovich wrapped up her tournament stint with a 6-2, 6-2 win over UTSA’s Isabelle Jonsson in consolation play.

Lucia Kovalova (Wichita State) def. Lana Groenvynck (Texas) – 7-6 (5), 1-6, 1-0 (11-9)

Annat Rabinovich (Texas) def. Isabelle Jonsson (UTSA) – 6-2, 6-2
