Rachel Scott Named NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Texas Softball sophomore Rachel Scott has been honored as an All-America Scholar Athlete by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. The award is bestowed upon any player submitted by a member coach who achieved a 3.50 grade point average or higher during the 2012-13 academic year. Scott, a Business Administration major, attained a GPA of 3.537 during her freshman year at The University of Texas at Austin.
In her first season on the Forty Acre, the Murphy, Texas native was tabbed to the Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team and to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll in each of her first two semesters. In addition to her academics, Scott devotes her spare time to the community often. Over the course of her time at UT, she has participated in several events, including: Marathon Kids, Longhorn Halloween, Austin Race for the Cure, National Women and Girls Sports Day, Pancakes for Parkinson’s and many others.
