GIRLS’ NIGHT OUT – ROUND UP

TEXAS HEAD FOOTBALL COACH MACK BROWNOVER 850 WOMEN attended the Mack Brown Women’s Clinic Aug. 22. The 15th annual event was held in the Red McCombs Red Zone in Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. “It’s nice to have an event that allows women to come in and become more educated about football and the process,” first-time attendee Deb Ross said.

off his 2012 London Olympics appearance, was welcomed to the stage by “USA! USA!” chants from the crowd.

After the player panel, assistant head coach/defensive backs coach Duane Akina and co-offensive coordinator/running backs coach Major Applewhite provided insight on the 2012 season. Coach Mack Brown and his wife, Sally, also took the stage to a standing ovation. The Browns discussed everything from the “new” Big 12, to Longhorns in the NFL, to game day emotions. “You just can’t wait,” Brown said. “You see the dreams in [the players’] eyes coming out.”

At the conclusion of the festivities, a more knowledgeable throng of women departed from the stadium, excited to brag about their unique experience to their friends and family. “I like going home and telling my husband what’s up,” six-year attendee Cyndee Rust said. “I can go home and say, ‘This is what Mack told me.’
