WILSON, who hasn’t missed a game in the last three seasons, had his biggest game in Texas’ win over Oregon State in the Alamo Bowl. He had three tackles, including a sack and a tackle for a loss, and was virtually unblockable in the fourth quarter.  [s2If current_user_can(access_s2member_level2)]

Wilson didn’t start playing football until seventh grade, when he was introduced to the sport. He was born in Ivory Coast, where his parents relocated following a bloody civil war in neighboring Liberia. His family spent 11 years in Africa, often in refugee camps, before moving to the United States in 2003.

He has the speed and strength to play the game at the highest level but is one step behind the other players at his position. Still, Wilson has flourished into a solid defender since coming to Texas in 2010.

“Coming in, the coaches knew that I was raw,” Wilson said. “Which steps to take and eye control are things I’ve tried to work on over the years. I see improvement, and I just need to keep getting better.”

Wilson will get his chance as an outside rusher and is set to have a breakout season.
