STILLWATER, Okla. — The Texas soccer team outshot No. 12 Oklahoma State, 11-9, including a 5-3 edge in shots on goal, but it was the Cowgirls who twice found the back of the net in a 2-0 victory over the Longhorns Friday at Neal Patterson Stadium.

The loss dropped Texas to 3-4-0. OSU improved to 4-2-1. All games for both teams have been against Big 12 opponents.

Not only did the loss drop the Longhorns back below the .500 mark for the season — Texas lost three of its first four games out of the gate — but they also fell to 10-13-7 all-time against Oklahoma State, including a 3-5-5 mark in road matches in Stillwater.

Junior forward Cameron Brooks led the UT offense with four shots; junior midfielder Julia Gross fired two, both of which were on goal.

The Cowgirls got what turned out to be the only goal they would need in the 12th minute, when Olyvia Dowell volleyed in a cross by Charme Morgan from seven yards out. OSU got its insurance goal in the 60th minute on a header by Grace Yochum.

The Longhorns will try to even their record next Friday when they host Baylor at Mike A. Myers Stadium in a 7 p.m. game that will be carried on the Longhorn Network.
