Soccer shut out by TCU, 3-0
FORT WORTH, Texas — The Texas Longhorns outshot TCU, 20-16, but never found the back of the net in a 3-0 loss at TCU.
The Horned Frogs improved to 1-0-1 this season, while the Longhorns were shut out for the second time in as many games and fell to 0-2-0.
The Longhorns held the edge in shots, but the Horned Frogs had more quality shots, directing nine shots on goal, compared to just five by the Horns.
The loss broke UT’s four-match winning streak in road games against Big 12 teams.
The Frogs got the only goal they would need in the 28th minute when Yazmeen Ryan converted an assist from Gracie Ryan. They added insurance goals in the 75th minute from Haley Mallion and in the 89th minute from Grace Collins.
A quarter of UT’s shots came from senior forward Haley Berg, who had one shot on goal among her five shots. Sophomore forward Sydney Nobles was the only Longhorn with two shots on goal.
The Longhorns will try again for their first victory, and their first goal, next Friday when they host Oklahoma at 7 p.m. next Friday, Sept. 25, at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
