Jordan Whittington
Hometown: Cuero, Texas
In many, if not most plays over the past several seasons when a Longhorns player gets extra yards after a catch, there is normally a player who put a block on a defender that allowed for the extra yards. Off camera, Jordan Whittington can be seen putting on a block that allowed Xavier Worthy, Jonathan Brooks, Roschon Johnson, and Bijan Robinson to gain extra yards or even a touchdown.
When we look at our field-level photos of the highlight player with the ball, time and time-again there is Whittington putting on a block that became instrumental to the play.

This is Whittington’s final season playing college football. His next step is the NFL, however Whitington needs receptions and yardage.
In the first five games of the 2023 season, a season Jordan knows he is being watched by the Reese’s Senior Bowl for a possible invitation, Whittington has had 12 receptions for 114-yards. That is an average of 2.4 receptions and 22.8-yards per game.
Whittington needs more receptions and yardage.

Then a switch got flipped and during the Red River Rivalry game against Oklahoma, Whittington was perfect. He was targeted 10 times by Quinn Ewers and caught every pass for 100%. The receptions yielded 115-yards.
With just six regular season games left and likely a couple more in the postseason if Texas continues to play at the high level they are, look for Whittington to play extraordinary football.
We predicted over 100-yards and a touchdown, or two, during Houston.

Whittington had his best game against Oklahoma with 10 receptions for 115-yards
Of course, the number of receptions is a fluid thing. It depends on the game, if Jordan is the best option for Ewers at the moment in the game, and so on, however, Whitington needs receptions and yardage. Jordan knows this, Quinn knows this, and certainly Sarkisian knows this.
We have heard Sarkisian over and over talk about how he feels his job is to put his players in the best possible situation for success. Look for Whittington to have opportunities against Houston and for the rest of the season.
