Texas Baseball over Air Force, 10-1 win 2022 NCAA Regional

AUSTIN, Texas - No. 9 Texas Baseball wins NCAA Regional over United States Air Force, 10-1 to advance to the Super Regional. Just a couple hours prior, the Air Force beat Louisiana Tech to stay alive. The temperature at game time was 95 but felt like 100.
This is Texas Baseball's 23rd NCAA Regional win.
Texas started the first inning putting up five runs staring with Ivan Melendez hitting his 30th home run of the season that also brought in Dylan Campbell who had been on first after a walk. Austin Todd singled to right then made it to second after Skyler Messinger walked. Silas Ardoin singled making it bases loaded. After a pass ball, runners advanced and Austin Todd scored. Mitchell Daly walked giving way to Trey Faltine hitting a ground-rule double down the right field line that scored Messinger and Ardoin.


Austin Todd scored for Texas in the third. Dylan Campbell hit a home run over the left field wall in the fourth. Skyler Messinger scored in the fifth after Silas Ardoin doubled to right center. Dylan Campbell punched another solo home run to left field in the eighth. In the ninth, Trey Faltine doubled that scored Messinger.
Travis Sthele starts on the mound for Texas, pitched three innings, threw 50 pitches (27 strikes 54%), faced 13 batters, and struck out two. Jared Southard pitched three innings, threw 50 pitches (31 strikes 62%), faced 12 batters, struck out six, and got the win. Andre Duplantier II pitched two innings, threw 27 pitches (19 strikes 70%), faced 7 batters, struck out two. Lebarron Johnson pitched the final inning, threw 20 pitched (14 strikes 70%), faced four, struck out two.
Texas advances to the NCAA Super Regionals.
