Texas Baseball against Air Force

An Air Force B-52 did a flyby as the crowd sang the National Anthem with both teams standing at attention, the Air Force cadet rendered a full salute and kept it all the way through the singing of the Eyes of Texas in a sign of respect for their opponent.

Texas won 6-5 in the bottom of the 10th with a walk-off run after a Dee Kennedy single to center. Kennedy had a single hit on the night, but it was the most important one.

Jared Thomas went to the plate six times and had a season-high four hits with two doubles.

Texas used six pitches. Grant Fontenot started on the monund, lasted one inning, gave up two runs. Cody Howard faced eight batters, struck out one and allowed one run. Chase Lummus pitched three and a third innings, faced 15 Air Force batters, threw 46 pitches (27 strikes), struck out four, allowed two hits, and one run. Heston Tole faced five batters and struck out two. Andre Duplantier II faced eight batters and struck out three. Gage Boehm got the win after coming in for the 10th inning toface three batters.

In the post game coach Pierce was asked how he would evaluate the pitching and he responded with, “Not good!”

We asked coach if this pays off at the end of season seeing that all the pitchers are see reps and coach said, “…becoming more consistent and reliable is what we are looking for, so yeah, it needs to pay dividents on the back end.”

This come back win was Texas’ sixth time this year. Texas Baseball is now 12-8 overall and10-4 at home.

Texas plays the Air Force in game two Mar. 20, Wednesday afternoon at 4pm.
