Texas volleyball clinches share of Big 12 title

AUSTIN, Texas โ With their win over the weekend the Texas Volleyball team clinched at least a share of the Big 12 Conference title this year.
The No. 5 Longhorns held off Kansas after an early scare for a 3-1 win Saturday, and will look to take another step toward the title when Texas faces Baylor Friday in Waco at 6 p.m.
Leading the way, Yaasmeen Bedart-Ghani rained down 13 kills on 23 swings (.435) along with two blocks and one dig. Junior Micaya White had a team-high 11 digs to go with 12 kills, one block, and two aces.

The โHorns overall had seven aces to just one for the Jayhawks, and Texas outhit Kansas .363 to .248.
Junior Brionne Butler had nine kills (.438), three digs, and two blocks, senior Morgan Johnson had nine kills on 11 swings (.818) and three blocks and junior Autumn Rounsaville had seven digs.
In the starting lineup once again, freshman Jhenna Gabriel had a team- and career-high 45 assists while adding six digs. Fellow freshmen Logan Eggleston & Sydney Petersen were big once again as well. Eggleston had double-digit kills with 10 and had one dig, while Petersen had eight digs and one ace.
