Texas Almost Cracks AP Top 25
Despite five wins in a row, including a 36-10 trouncing of No. 12 Oklahoma, the Associated Press does not see Texas as a top-25 team.
Texas defeated lowly Kansas over the weekend 35-13, and, behind a vastly-improved defense, the Longhorns have won their last three games by an average of 20 points per game.
Texas remains undefeated in conference play and became bowl eligible with their sixth win.
Other teams with two losses that cracked the AP Top 25 include LSU, Texas A&M, South Carolina, UCLA, Wisconsin, Arizona State, Notre Dame, and Texas Tech, who lost to Oklahoma last weekend.
Of the teams that narrowly missed being included in the poll Texas received the most votes with 34.
The top of the AP Poll has not changed since the start of the season, with Alabama and Oregon claiming the top two spots respectively.
The AP Poll is voted on by members of the Associated Press and is not included in the Bowl Championship Series calculations. The BCS standings will be released tonight at 7 p.m.
