
Another razor thin close game for Texas, but they were victorious over TCU that came down to one play, a 35-yard pass from Quinn Ewers to Adonai Mitchell on 3rd down.
Texas found their stride after a couple drives to score first touchdown that took just two plays over 75 yards in 0:48 seconds. Jonahton Brooks took a short pass from Ewers and turned it into a 73-yard run to the two yard line, then punchecd in on for the score on the next play.
Brooks carried the ball 21 times for 104-yards, scored two touchdowns, and took three receptions for 74 yards for a total of 178 yards in the game. Late in the forth, Brooks was seen being helped walking back to the locker room before the game ended. This was Brooks sixth 100-yard rushing game.
Ewers’ return showed his injury was healed as he three 33 passes with 22 connecting for 317 yards. Each completion averaged 14.4 yards. Ewers’ also connected with Xavier Worthy 10 times. The biggest pass was a 45-yard deep ball on the third play of the game. Worthy’s 10 reception produced 137-yards on the night.
CJ Baxter carried the ball 18 times for 61-yards, 12 of Baxter’s carries came in the fourth quarter.
Bert Auburn once again scored what would become the winning field goal that gave Texas a big enough margin to win the game. The last time Texas scored was a 49-yard field goal from Auburn at the start of the fourth quarter to put Texas 29-13. TCU would come back to score two back-to-back touchdowns, but Texas found a way to control the ball on the last possesion of the game and run out the clock.
Texas travels to Ames, IA next week for a another tough game that will Texas
