Texas softball gets shut out by Texas State, 6-0

The University of Texas softball team suffered its first loss of the season when the Longhorns were shut out, 6-0, by Texas State at Red & Charline McCombs Field.

The Longhorns mustered just three hits in the loss, getting one each from second baseman Stephanie Ceo, right fielder Reagan Hathaway and third baseman Celina Felix.

Starting pitcher Paige von Sprecken allowed just one hit and struck out three over two shutout innings before giving way to Kristen Clark, who surrendered six runs on seven hits in 1.1 innings of relief. Junior Tiarra Davis pitched the remaining 3.2 innings without allowing any more runs, surrendering two hits and walking two.

The Longhorns return to action Tuesday when they host St. Edward’s at 7 p.m.
